On December 1, 2017,Music of my Soul Festival, dedicated to Eugen Doga’s anniversary, was held for the first time. The festival took place at Igor Cretu State Gymnasium in the village of Gavanoasa,Cahul District.
More than 160 children from eight Moldovan villages participated. From the festival stage, the young participants presented Eugen Doga’s in a new light – as a children's paradise in the middle of the countryside. In the concert hall of the gymnasium, a lily sang her story, it rained, the forest aromapermeated the air, and an enchanting waltz melody whirled around.
The event was marked by the presence of Ms. Viorica Doga, the composer’s daughter. She came with a congratulatory message addressed to all participants, and gifts. Ms. Doga managed to create a warm, friendly atmosphere, making all the contestants forget about competing and feel at home. The event was also attended by officials from the regional center of Cahul.
The competition included three nominations:
• Performance of a song composed by Eugen Doga
• Performance of a dance to Doga’s music
• An original presentation about the composer’s life and work.
All the contestants were well prepared and demonstrated excellent performance and great respect for Eugen Doga’s music.
The festival’s organizers, the Igor Cretu State Gymnasium, did a superb job, taking care of the smallest details, from greeting the participants to awarding the contestants with prizes.
The festival has had a positive impact on all rural areas of Cahul and Vulcanesti. There are those who have already expressed desire to participate in the next festival.
